Do not use unbaked clay on unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Start with clean hands and work surface area. Good work surfaces include wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Knead clay until soft and smooth. For best results, clean your hands in between colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces together firmly. Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275 °F (130 °C) for 15 minutes per 1/4” (6 mm) thickness. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME. Wash hands after use. Baking should be completed by an adult.
Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). Test temperature with oven thermometer for perfectly cured clay. For best results, condition all clay by running it through the clay dedicated pasta machine several passes on the widest setting. Fold the clay in half after each pass and insert the fold side into the rollers first.
Make equal size logs of each Pearl, Fuchsia Pearl, Gentle Plum and Tranquility.
1.Roll and twist the log until it is about 8" long.
2.Fold the twisted log in half and then in half again. Repeat steps 2 and 3.
Roll and twist the log but keep it short and fat. Roll over the log to flatten it to about 1/4" thick with the acrylic roller.
Press Purple through the pasta machine on the 3rd thickest setting. Lay the squash cane on top of the purple sheet. Trim the purple sheet to the size of the cane.
Press one short end of the flattened log into a bevel with your fingers. Starting at this beveled end, roll the log up into a jelly roll cane.
Pinch and shape one end of the cane into a point. Take a slice from this log that will be used as one half of the heart design.
Shape the other half of the heart design from a piece of Tranquility clay.
Press the two halves of the heart together. Pull the tips together into a long point. Roll the points up into a spiral.
Gently turn the Tranquility side over and press it into the Graphic Flower texture as desired.
Lay the heart in front of you face up. Using your finger, smear a light covering of mica powder over the top of the textured design without getting it into the crevices.
Make small pearls of Purple clay using the small Etch n Pearl and place these down the center of the heart. Decorate the spaces between the pearls with crystals.
Use the medium sized Etch n Pearl to poke a large hole in the top of the Tranquility side of the heart.
Bake as directed above. Allow to completely cool, then string as desired.
